International Women’s Day 2026
As the General Manager of MUCHO, I'm nervous watching other companies upload their IWD events and activations ahead of International Women's Day. Will MUCHO also show up and convey “the right thing”?
How do I make “the right thing” feel like a true representation of how I feel, not just a novelty? How will I do enough to impact and give weight to the true inequality? It's impossible, the inequality exists, and I can't fix it all in one calendar day of the year.
We will continue our usual activities: annually donating to a Sydney women's charity, discussing celebration ideas, focusing on all the women across the group, and determining how we can improve. But most importantly to me, at MUCHO, we do the “right thing” every day. At MUCHO we’re not just talking about equality; we’re actually living equality every day.
We treat everyone equally, hire equally, and support equally. We give opportunities to those who deserve them, not according to gender, race or any discriminatory way. Every day.
We are a woman-led company with women leading all different aspects of our company. I have to remind myself and talk myself down every year: there's no point being nervous or worrying about doing “the right thing”. I will continue to protect all the wonderful women, men and non-binary people in our company. I will also continue to be an example as a woman who can run a company in a male dominated industry.
Lots of love to all the women who show up every day. My heart is aware of all the feelings this week is creating for you.
Happy Women’s Day, but in my world every day is International Women’s Day; I hope your world is too.
